Privacy Policy

Effective / Last updated: October 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Legal Rights Now ("Legal Rights Now," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares and protects information when you visit legalrightsnow.com or send us a form. We've tried to write it the way we write our guides: plainly.

The short version

  • We collect what you type into our forms, plus basic technical information such as your IP address.
  • We use it to follow up with you about your request or message.
  • We share your case review details with an independent attorney only if you give permission.
  • We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information.
  • Text messages are optional, and you can stop them at any time by replying STOP.

Information we collect

Case review requests

When you request a free case review, we collect your first and last name, email address, mobile phone number (optional), state, the kind of problem, roughly when it happened, your description of what happened, and whether you've already hired a lawyer. If you tick either text message box, we also record which box you ticked, the exact consent wording shown to you, and the date and time.

Your description may include sensitive information, such as details about an injury or your health, your finances, your job, or your housing. Please share only what's needed to describe the situation, and please don't include medical record numbers, Social Security numbers or account numbers.

Contact messages

When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.

Technical information

Like most websites, our server records basic technical information when you visit or send a form, including your IP address, browser type and version (user agent), the date and time, and the pages requested. We record the IP address and user agent with each form submission to help prevent spam and abuse.

Cookies and similar technologies

We don't use cookies for advertising or to track you across other websites, and we don't currently use third-party analytics. Our pages load some open-source code from the jsDelivr content delivery network, which receives standard technical information, such as your IP address, when your browser requests those files.

2

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Follow up with you about your case review request or message
  • Understand whether your situation fits an area where independent attorneys review cases
  • Share your case review details with an independent attorney, but only with your permission (see section 3)
  • Send text messages you've agreed to receive (see section 5)
  • Run, maintain and secure the website, and prevent spam, fraud and abuse
  • Comply with the law and respond to lawful requests

We don't use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we don't sell it.

3

Sharing with attorneys, only with your permission

Some kinds of problems are areas where independent attorneys review cases. If your request fits one of those areas, we will ask your permission before sharing your details with an attorney. If you say no, we don't share them.

If you say yes, we share what's needed for the attorney to review your situation, such as your name, contact details, state and description. That attorney is independent of Legal Rights Now. Once they have your information, their own privacy practices and professional duties apply to it. We can't promise that an attorney will take your case.

4

Other sharing

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share information only in these limited situations:

  • Service providers. Companies that help us operate the site and our communications, such as our web hosting provider, email delivery, and text message delivery if you opt in to texts. They may use the information only to provide those services to us, must protect it, and may not use it for their own marketing.
  • Attorneys, with your permission. As described in section 3.
  • Legal requirements and safety. When we believe in good faith that the law requires it, such as to respond to a subpoena or court order, or when it's needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Legal Rights Now, our visitors or others.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

5

Text messages

Text messages from Legal Rights Now are optional. The case review form has two separate checkboxes, and both start unticked:

  • Service updates and account notifications. If you tick the first box, you agree to receive recurring automated service updates and account notifications texts from Legal Rights Now at the phone number you provide, such as updates about your case review request.
  • Marketing communications and promotions. If you tick the second box, you agree to receive marketing communications and promotions from Legal Rights Now at the phone number you provide.

You can send a request without ticking either box, and consent is not required to buy anything. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. We keep a record of your consent and of any opt-out so that we can honor your choices. Our SMS Terms have the full details.

6

How long we keep information

We keep case review requests and contact messages for as long as we need them to respond and follow up, and generally no longer than 24 months after your last contact with us, unless the law requires us to keep them longer or you ask us to delete them sooner. We keep records of text message consent and opt-outs for as long as needed to honor your choices and to show that we followed the law. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security purposes.

7

How we protect information

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold. The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), form submissions are stored outside the website's public folders, and access is limited to people who need it to do their work. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security.

8

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Ask what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Tell us you no longer want your details shared with an attorney (we can't undo sharing that has already happened with your permission, but we'll stop any further sharing)
  • Stop text messages at any time by replying STOP

To make a request, use our contact form with the email address you used before, and choose "Privacy, or deleting my information." We may need to confirm it's really you before acting on a request. Depending on where you live, state privacy laws may give you additional rights, and we won't treat you differently for using them.

We don't track visitors across other websites, so we treat every visitor the same whether or not their browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

9

Children

This site is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to send a case review request for you. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10

Links to other websites

Our guides link to government agencies, courts and legal aid organizations. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we aren't responsible for how they handle information.

11

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll make that clear on this page.
