Roblox child sexual exploitation lawsuits

Roblox is a highly popular online gaming platform, and many of its players are children. Families have filed lawsuits alleging that adult predators used Roblox to find and groom children, then moved the conversation to apps such as Discord, Snapchat or Instagram, where children were pressured into sharing sexually explicit images and, in some cases, assaulted. The lawsuits allege the companies knew and failed to protect young users. If this happened to your child, or to you as a minor, it was not your fault. Our legal team reviews these cases with care and discretion, and you can ask for a free case evaluation.

What the lawsuits allege

  • Grooming on Roblox. Plaintiffs allege that they, as minors, or their minor children were sexually exploited, and in some cases assaulted, by predators who targeted and groomed them through Roblox.
  • A second platform. Plaintiffs allege that after making contact on Roblox, predators persuaded children to continue on another platform, such as Discord, Snapchat or Instagram, or by text or video call, often to exchange sexually explicit images.
  • Safety claims and safeguards. The lawsuits raise what Roblox knew about predators using its platform, whether it falsely represented that Roblox is safe for children, whether it could have used effective parental controls and safety features such as age and identity verification, and whether it adequately warned about these risks. Similar questions are raised about the other platforms.

The claims include fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation, negligence, failure to warn and design defect. An MDL means many people have filed similar lawsuits. It does not mean any court has decided that any company is responsible.

Who may be eligible

You may be eligible for a free case evaluation if your child, or you as a minor, was contacted by an adult through Roblox and was sexually exploited or assaulted, including being pressured to send sexually explicit images.

Parents and guardians can ask on behalf of a child. Adults who were exploited as minors can ask for themselves.

Our attorneys look at

  • When and how the contact began on Roblox
  • Whether the contact moved to another app, and which one
  • What harm followed, and any counseling or medical care
  • Whether the matter was reported to police, the platform or NCMEC (not required to ask for an evaluation)

What to gather for your free evaluation

You don't need everything on this list, and you can share it later. Gather what you can.

  • The Roblox username of the child's account, and any other app accounts involved
  • The predator's usernames, if known
  • The approximate dates the contact started and ended
  • Any police report number or CyberTipline report number
  • Records of counseling or medical care

Important: Don't delete the child's accounts or messages. But never copy, screenshot, save or forward any sexually explicit image of a minor, even to share it with us or with police. Report it to the CyberTipline or to law enforcement, who can preserve it lawfully.

As of October 2026, lawsuits allege that child predators targeted and groomed minors through the Roblox gaming platform, often moving the contact to a second platform, and that the companies misrepresented their platforms' safety for children and failed to provide effective parental controls, age and identity verification, and adequate warnings. The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation created the MDL on December 12, 2025, and assigned it to Chief Judge Richard Seeborg in the Northern District of California. The Panel noted that the defendants are expected to raise defenses that include arbitration, Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and the First Amendment.

What public officials have done

The Panel's order notes that the Louisiana, Kentucky and Texas attorneys general have filed lawsuits against Roblox, and that the Florida attorney general has begun a criminal investigation.

Questions

My child is still a minor. Who would bring the case?

Usually a parent or legal guardian acts on a minor's behalf. Our attorneys can explain how that works in your state.

Will my child's name be made public?

Cases involving minors and sexual exploitation are often filed using initials or a pseudonym, and we handle what you share as described in our Privacy Policy. Our attorneys can explain the options.

We agreed to Roblox's terms of service. Does that end things?

Not necessarily. The companies are expected to argue that arbitration clauses apply, and the court will decide those questions. Our attorneys can review your situation.

Is there a deadline?

Yes. Filing deadlines are set by state law, and the rules for injuries to minors and for sexual abuse claims often differ from other cases. It's best to ask early.

a few sentences is enough

A free case evaluation does not create an attorney-client relationship, does not file a claim and does not pause any deadline. We represent a client only after we both sign a written agreement.
